"You talk too much."
newMark Deubel — Technical talent whisperer

Mark is a startup talent partner and a self-proclaimed oddball in the recruitment industry. While most recruiters come from traditional HR or 'fell into it,' Mark brings a drastically different perspective, leveraging a deep, hands-on technical history of 2 decades to build high-performing teams for scaling companies.

He began his career in the Navy as an electrical and mechanical engineer, transitioned into communication systems and IT for the Air Force, and eventually merged these disciplines in the offshore energy sector. After years of building, training, and leading technical teams, he realized he loved the people aspect more than the machinery. Deciding it was time to crush his comfort zone, he made a massive pivot into recruitment. This unusual hybrid of skills proved invaluable. Mark joined Elastic when it was a small startup, playing a pivotal role in scaling the company to 3,500 employees and guiding them through a successful IPO. Now, his ability to speak the complex language of engineers is his greatest asset.

But Mark doesn't just speak the language. He makes sure everyone hears it. He is incredibly opinionated, frequently taking to international stages to broadcast his unfiltered views on the talent world. When he isn't delivering keynotes or advising founders, he is a podcast host (who desperately needs to restart his show). Between grilling candidates, commanding global stages, and relentlessly broadcasting his boldest thoughts, Mark has built a wildly successful career out of simply never running out of things to say.
